Ronald McDonald House of Dayton
What is the Ronald McDonald House?
The Ronald McDonald House is one of two programs offered by Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Miami Valley Region. Opening our doors in February 1980, RMH of Dayton has been providing a home-away-from-home to families of critically ill, hospitalized children for three decades. The RMH of Dayton is here for families who must travel a long distance from home for specialized medical treatment for their child. The House provides a safe and comforting temporary residence near Dayton Children's Medical Center and other area hospitals.
What services does this program provide?
Families with hospitalized children will find that the RMH of Dayton is a place where they can eat a home-cooked meal, take a shower, do laundry, or just relax in their private guest room. And all of these amenities are available just minutes away from their child's hospital bed.
Families staying at the RMH of Dayton are able to rest, rejuvenate, and find support from other families who share similar hopes and concerns. In the common areas of the House, parents and siblings are able to come together to play a game, watch a movie, or relax in our family gardens. Families who do not need a room for the night are welcome to find refuge at the House as a Day Guest when a break from the hospital is needed.
Due to the community's generous support, families are able to be our guest free of charge, regardless of one's ability to pay. Through donations and volunteer services, RMH of Dayton is able to alleviate some of the financial stresses that our guests may be facing as a result of their child's illness.
