- Ronald McDonald House of Dayton is part of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Miami Valley Region, a non-profit organization. As such, it relies heavily on volunteers to do much of the work of the House. There is a full-time Operations Director, an on-site Resident Manager, and a team of Weekend Managers to provide continual 24 X 7 support to the families staying in the House.
- Families are given a key card that provides access to the front and back door as well as their own room. Guests may come and go any time of the day or night. However, quiet hours are enforced after 9 p.m. and until 9 a.m. the next day.
- Families are permitted to have guests between the hours of 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
- Guests are responsible for doing their own cleaning, cooking and laundry, including the linen and towels that are provided. No maid service is provided. At check-out, each family is responsible for cleaning their own room. Volunteers and staff members follow up after the family checks out to sanitize, replenish supplies, and to ready the room for the next guest family.
- The House has a large communal kitchen. Donations allow the House to make some pantry products and certain staple items available. Various members of the community provide evening meals, on occasion, to help vary what is available to the guests. Families are responsible for preparing their own meals and cleaning their own dishes, pans, and the areas of the kitchen and dining area they used.
- No babysitting is provided. Parents are responsible for their minor children, no matter what their age, and they may not be left unattended in the House at any time.
- Guest rooms have phones for incoming and outgoing local calls. A phone, provided by Cricket, is available in the library for long-distance calls.
- Smoking is not permitted in the House. There is one designated smoking area in the garden area near our front porch.
- Drugs or alcohol are not permitted in the House. Weapons are not permitted, even if a person has a legal permit to carry them.
