Volunteer Training/Retention
We have a small staff, supported by many volunteers. The number, caliber and dedication of our volunteers are crucial to our mission. If we had to hire staff to fill their roles, it would add an extra $250,000 + in salaries and benefits to our annual operating expenses. Thus, we owe much to our volunteers for allowing us to keep our administrative and housekeeping costs at a minimal level. And as our volunteers do much of the work normally allocated to paid staff, so we take special care to train, supervise and reward them.
